Fig Plate

fig plate

Sometimes it’s all about simplicity. Sometimes, the best cooking isn’t cooking at all. There are times when the best hing you can do is step back and let the food speak for itself.

It’s fig season. Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, the Co-op – all have baskets of beautiful figs begging to come home with me. Kindly person that I am, I brought some home with me. And then I did nothing to them but wash and arrange in this nifty wide-rimmed bowl. (I’ve always been a sucker for bowls. Now that I have this blog, and thus a reason to “need” them, I’m even worse.)

Add some blue cheese and prosciutto arranged on the rim, a bowl of crackers or a plate of bread, and a glass of wine… who could ask for more?
