They put what in my soda?

November 10, 2014 by Kristin Satterlee Leave a Comment

I was walking through the beverage section of Talin Market when I saw it. I didn’t believe it at first.

Buffalo wing soda.

Now, I love Buffalo wings. And I like soda well enough, though I don’t drink it like I used to. Just a few a month, really. (Oddly, I have a can of Coke next to me now, but they gave it to me at the vet to keep me quiet when she was running a half-hour late.)

But, no. I cannot get my mind around the concept of Buffalo wing soda. I just kind of stared at the bilious orange fluid with things (chile flakes?) floating in it, and then walked away quickly. Not many things turn my stomach, but just thinking about this made me feel kind of ill.

Then I realized I should take a photo… and when I went back to do so, I noticed the group of bottles to the left. Really, a less surprising one.

Bacon soda.

As I edited the photos for this post, I thought maybe I should go back and get a bottle of the Buffalo wing soda, so I could report on how it tasted. But I can’t do it. Dear reader, you shall have to go without.
The bacon soda, though… I can’t easily object to that when our favorite tea for months has been a rooibos blend from the St. James Tea Room’s new “Higbie & Sons” line of teas. The line is intended to appeal to men. This particular tea is designed to taste like bacon. Maple, smoke, a hint of chocolate. Yum. We’re halfway through our second tin.
So maybe, someday, I’ll tell you how bacon soda is. But for the Buffalo wing, you’re on your own.
